Hallowe'en BOO BOOs for Little Introverted Kids
Halloween is right around the corner. All the kids are really excited, right? Wrong.
Not all children are as happy about Halloween as youd think.
Some of our more lavishly celebrated childrens holidays are planned with extroverted children in mind. What about the remaining 30% who are different? 30% of all children are introverts.
Please dont feel sorry for us. Were not extroverts who failed to become the life of the party. Introversion is a legitimate personality type.
Id like to take a moment to advocate for the kids like me. Were introverts!
Now, dont get me wrong. We love a good time and we sure love our family. Its just that we define fun a little differently than our extroverted peers.
Lets plan a Halloween that works for introverted kids, too. Then well branch out to Christmas and Easter. Were on a crusade to raise consciousness.
Here are some of the things that can stress introverted kids and why.
INTROVERTS ARE TERRITORIAL.
Someone cant take our seat, tug at our sweater, put our toy away, grab the book out of our hands or scoop us up unexpectedly for a big hug and kiss without ruffling our feathers. Please give us our personal space, no matter how cute we look all dolled up!
INTROVERTS NEED TIME ALONE TO RECHARGE THEIR BATTERIES.
If forced into a loud, crowded, brightly lit environment full of colors, smells and new sights for too long, we may become exhausted, irritable and out of sorts whether thats throwing a tantrum or throwing up. For us, less is more. Please limit out experiences of things like this to the absolute minimum! Your fun can be our ordeal.
INTROVERTS VALUE PRIVACY.
The whole idea of donning strange clothes or costumes and parading around in front of people is something that brings no inherent rewards for us and can be the ultimate stressor. If we could do without the parade and even admiring others in the parade, wed be pretty happy. (Admiring others take a lot of energy for an introvert we give energy and extroverts take energy from us when were out and about.]
INTROVERTS FEAR FAILURE IN PUBLIC AND EXPERIENCE DEEP HUMILIATION BECAUSE OF IT.
If were not prepared for our latest public Halloween experience, it can be very traumatic. We dont like being thrown in to a situation for which were not prepared. Please dont take us to a new event, location, or creative way of celebrating this occasion without warning. Whatever youre doing with us for Halloween, please go through it with us beforehand and if there are social requirements, give us some tips of what to say at the absolute minimum to meet parental standards so we can win!
INTROVERTS HATE SMALL TALK AND BEING TOUCHED BY STRANGERS (SHAKING HANDS, ETC.)
Does this sound like we want to go door-to-door in anybodys neighborhood even for candy? I mean talk about a double bind. Cant you just give us some candy and skip the rest!
INTROVERTS DON'T LIKE TO RUSH.
If were rushed, were miserable, no matter what else is going on. If we have to endure the Halloween crush, better let us amble up and down one trick r treating block or down one aisle at the carnival rather than rushing us through six in one hour. Too much. Too fast. Too terrible.
If youre keeping us at home which is sounding better all the time -- please dont make us open the door and fuss over everybody. Its exhausting. We wouldnt mind hanging back and watching you open the door, though. Thats fun for us! We like to watch.

Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 Dobsonian Reflector Telescope
Without spending a fortune you can get a telescope that will not only satisfy the kids, but the kid in you! Our SkyQuest XT4.5 is a quality telescope, with point-and-view simplicity that makes it easy to use and makes stargazing fun! The optical performance is far and away better than flimsy department store models. Its 4.5" (114mm) mirror, housed in an enameled steel tube, gathers 260% more starlight than a 60mm refractor. More light means you can see a lot more celestial objects in greater detail. In a review of low-cost beginner telescopes, Sky and Telescope (12/05) proclaimed the XT4.5 "The best of the bunch - a solid combination of optics and mechanics." Try it and see for yourself!

Sunday Afternoon's Kid's Play Hat UPF 45
Sunday Afternoon's Kid's Play Hat UPF 45
Experts warn that up to 50% of skin damage occurs before children reach the age of 18. Unlike the modified ball caps with flaps on the market, these Play Hats feature a full brim that continues around the sides for cheek to ear protection. Full veil covers the back of neck, mesh panels for ventilation, and down-sloped flexible brim shades the entire face. Includes chin strap with cord lock (size 6m-2yr has ties only, no cord lock, and no side mesh). Made of lightweight water-resistant supplex fabric, blocks UVA and UVB rays, rated 45 UPF (ultra violet protection factor). Cold water wash by hand, hang to dry.
Customer Review: Great for active kids!
We purchased this hat for our son. He is very active and we want him to be protected from the sun while he's running around outdoors. This hat is perfect. Just do not fold the brim! Shields his face and back of his neck from the sun very well. All of our relatives have asked us for the information to purchase the adult sizes for themselves and the children's sizes for their children. Truly a wonderful hat! My husband and I even bought some (in adult sizes) for ourselves.

Customer Review: zadro speakerman
I bought a zadro speakerman for my self a few years ago, and recently purchased another for my nephew. I love the simplicity of it and the sound from the "foot" speakers is of pretty decent quality. Nice for sitting on the edge of a shelf to listen quietly to your Ipod.
